Metteniusa adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Metteniusaceae.[2] Genus ini dinamai oleh Hermann Karsten pada tahun 1860 untuk menghormati ahli botani Jerman Georg Heinrich Mettenius.[3] Genus ini memiliki tujuh spesies.[4] Spesies tipenya adalah Metteniusa edulis.[5]. "Metteniusaceae" diusulkan oleh Adalbert Schnizlein dan divalidasi oleh Hermann Karsten pada tahun 1860.[6]. Famili ini sekarang ditempatkan dalam ordonya sendiri, Metteniusales[2].
