MotivePower, Inc. (MPI) dulu adalah sebuah produsen lokomotif diesel elektrik asal Amerika. Perusahaan ini memulai sejarahnya pada tahun 1972 sebagai divisi dari Morrison-Knudsen (MK).[1] Setelah dipisah dari MK, perusahaan ini bergabung dengan WABCO untuk membentuk Wabtec pada tahun 1999.

Morrison-Knudsen mendirikan divisi perkeretaapian dengan nama MK Rail pada tahun 1972.[1] MK Rail kemudian dipisah dari Morrison-Knudsen pada tahun 1993, dan melantai di bursa saham setahun kemudian. Setelah Morrison-Knudsen bangkrut pada tahun 1996, MK Rail mengubah namanya menjadi "MotivePower Industries" dan berbisnis dengan nama "Boise Locomotive". Perusahaan ini lalu bergabung dengan Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO) pada bulan November 1999[2] untuk membentuk Wabtec.[3]

Pada tahun 2000, Wabtec mengubah nama dari perusahaan ini menjadi "MotivePower",[4] dan tetap beroperasi sebagai anak usaha dari Wabtec.[5] Pada tanggal 18 September 2019, setelah membeli GE Transportation, Wabtec mengumumkan bahwa pabrik milik perusahaan ini di Boise, Idaho akan ditutup pada awal tahun 2020, karena proses produksinya akan dipindah ke pabrik milik GE Transportation di Erie, Pennsylvania.[6][7][8]

Produk

Produk unggulan dari MotivePower adalah lokomotif MPI MPXpress. Perusahaan ini pun telah memproduksi 200 unit lokomotif untuk operator kereta komuter di Amerika Serikat dan Kanada.
