Mulk Raj Anand (12 Desember 1905 – 28 September 2004) adalah seorang penulis India dalam bahasa Inggris, yang dikenal karena pengisahannya terhadap kehidupan kasta-kasta rendah dalam masyarakat India tradisional. Sebagai salah satu pionir fiksi Indo-Anglian, bersama dengan R. K. Narayan, Ahmad Ali dan Raja Rao, ia adalah salah satu penulis berbahasa Inggris asal India pertama yang meraih ketenaran internasional. Anand dikenal karena membuat novel-novel dan cerpen-cerpen yang meraih status karya klasik dalam sastra Inggris India modern. Karya-karya tersebut dikenal karena sorotan mendalamnya terhadap kehidupan orang-orang tertindas dan analisis terhadap kemiskinan, eksplioitasi dan ketidakberuntungan.[1][2][3] Ia dikenal karena membuat novel “Untouchable” (1935), disusul oleh karya-karya lainnya tentang kaum miskin India seperti “Coolie” (1936) dan “Two Leaves and a Bud” (1937).[4] Ia dikenal karena menjadi salah satu penulis pertama yang memadukan idiom-idiom Punjabi dan Hindustani ke dalam bahasa Inggris,[5] dan menjadi penerima penghargaan sipil Padma Bhushan.[6]
