Neotrichocoleaceae adalah famili dari lumut hati dalam ordo Ptilidiales. Famili ini berkerabat dekat dengan marga Ptilidium dan Herzogianthus.

Diagram di kiri merangkum sebagian dari analisis kladistik lumut hati tahun 2006 yang didasarkan pada tiga gen kloroplas, satu gen inti, dan satu gen mitokondria.[2][3] Marga Trichocoleopsis tidak disertakan dalam analisis luas yang asli, namun merupakan takson saudara dari Neotrichocolea menurut studi yang lebih terfokus dengan menggunakan enam gen kloroplas, dua gen inti, dan satu gen mitokondria.[4]

Marga Ptilidium adalah saudara dari klad Trichocoleopsis-Neotrichocolea. Marga Herzogianthus juga diyakini berkerabat dengan kelompok ini,[5] meskipun tidak disertakan dalam analisis molekuler mana pun. Klad gabungan ini, pada gilirannya, menempel pada dasar klad besar (2600 spesies) yang disebut "Leafy II". Klad tersebut, bersama dengan "Leafy I" (1800 spesies lainnya) dan Pleurozia membentuk Jungermanniales, sebagaimana didefinisikan secara tradisional.
