Oksitosin.

Oksitosin (bahasa Yunani: (ŏk'sĭ-tō'sĭn), kelahiran cepat) (bahasa Inggris: oxytocin, OT, pitocin, syntocinon) adalah hormon pada manusia yang berfungsi untuk merangsang kontraksi yang kuat pada dinding rahim/uterus sehingga mempermudah dalam membantu proses kelahiran. Selain itu, Hormon ini juga berfungsi untuk mensekresi air susu dengan merangsang kontraksi duktus laktiferus kelenjar mammae (payudara) pada ibu menyusui. Namun, produksi air susu tersebut diatur oleh hormon prolaktin.

Prekursor oksitosin bernama oksitosin-neurofisin bahasa Inggris: oxytosin-neurophysin, OT-Np) disintesa di dalam kelenjar hipotalamus.[3]
