Parenkim

Parenkim adalah istilah yang dipakai untuk menggambarkan jaringan yang terbentuk dari sel-sel hidup dengan struktur dan fisiologi yang bervariasi dan masih melakukan segala kegiatan proses biologis. Secara medis, parenkim berarti sel pada organ yang mempunyai fungsi tertentu atau sel kelenjar di luar komponen jaringan ikat.[1][2]

Pertama kali digunakan pada tahun 1615 untuk menggambarkan jaringan pada tubuh manusia. Berasal dari bahasa latin yang berarti daging yang berada di bagian dalam.[2]
