Parit
Parit adalah sebuah jenis ekskavasi atau tekanan di tanah yang umumnya lebih dalam ketimbang lebarnya (berlawanan dengan lombong yang lebih lebar, atau selokan), dan sempit dibandingkan dengan panjangnya (berlawanan dengan lubang sederhana).[1]
Dalam geologi, parit tercipta akibat erosi dari sungai atau gerak geologi dari lempeng tektonik. Dalam bidang teknik sipil, parit sering kali diciptakan untuk memasang infrastruktur atau peralatan bawah tanah (seperti pipa gas, pipa air atau kabel telepon) atau kemudian untuk mengakses instalasi-instalasi tersebut. Parit juga sering dipakai untuk tujuan pertahanan militer. Dalam arkeologi, "metode parit" dipakai untuk mencari dan mengekskavasi reruntuhan kuno atau menggali strata material tersedimentasi.
