Istilah permil (dari bahasa Latin per mīlle, artinya "di tiap seribu")[1] mengindikasikan satu bagian per ribu.[2] Permil mengunakan simbol ‰, mirip dengan tanda persen % tetapi dengan tambahan satu nol di penyebutnya.
Kamus umum tidak setuju dengan pengejaannya,[1][2][3] memberi opsi lainnya yaitu per mil,[2] per mill,[1][3] permil,[1][4] permill,[1] permille.[5][6]
