Pneumatomachi

Pneumatomachi (berasal dari bahasa Yunani yang berarti "Penentang Roh" atau "Pejuang Roh" adalah sebuah sekte bidah Kristen dari abad ke-4 Masehi. Mereka dikenal menyangkal keilahian Roh Kudus dan menganggap-Nya sebagai makhluk ciptaan yang lebih rendah daripada Bapa maupun Anak.[1]

Mereka berkembang dari lingkungan kontroversi Arianisme setelah Konsili Nikea (325 M), ketika perdebatan teologis bergeser dari natur Kristus menuju status Roh Kudus.[2]

Asal-usul

Pneumatomachi muncul pada paruh kedua abad ke-4 di wilayah Kekaisaran Romawi Timur, terutama di daerah sekitar Hellespont, Konstantinopel, dan Asia Kecil.[3] Mereka berkembang dari lingkungan kontroversi Arianisme setelah First Council of Nicaea (325 M), ketika perdebatan teologis bergeser dari natur Kristus menuju status Roh Kudus.[4]
