Pro aris et focis

Pro aris et focis ("untuk perapian dan rumah") dan Pro Deo et patria ("untuk Tuhan dan negara") adalah dua frasa Latin yang digunakan sebagai motto banyak keluarga, resimen militer, dan lembaga pendidikan.[1] Pro aris et focis secara harfiah diterjemahkan "untuk altar dan perapian", tetapi digunakan oleh para penulis zaman dahulu untuk mengungkapkan keterikatan pada semua yang paling disayangi dan secara lebih idiomatis diterjemahkan "untuk perapian dan rumah", karena Istilah Latin aris umumnya mengacu pada altar roh rumah (Lares) dan sering digunakan sebagai synecdoche untuk rumah keluarga.
