Program Sputnik
Program Sputnik adalah seri misi dikirimnya pesawat luar angkasa oleh Uni Soviet. Pesawat pertama, Sputnik I, mengirim objek buatan manusia pertama ke orbit Bumi. Peluncuran ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4 Oktober 1957. Nama dalam bahasa Rusia, "Спутник", berarti "satelit" atau "teman berkelana", dan roket R-7nya didesain untuk membawa misil balistik.
