Proskinesis
Proskinesis /ˌprɒskɪˈniːsɪs/ atau proscynesis /ˌprɒsɪˈniːsɪs/ (Yunani προσκύνησις, proskúnēsis) merujuk kepada tindakan membungkuk atau bersujud seseorang kepada orang yang berpangkat sosial lebih tinggi dalam tradisi Persia. Dalam Gereja Ortodoks Timur, istilah proskinesis dipakai secara teologis untuk mengindikasikan pemuliaan dengan salam dan penghormatan (Yunani: "ἀσπασμόν καί τιμητικήν προσκύνησιν") terhadap ikon dan relik orang-orang kudus.[1]
