Proyek Orion
Proyek Orion adalah usulan wahana antariksa yang akan memanfaatkan ledakan nuklir sebagai pendorong. Proyek ini dimulai pada tahun 1958 oleh Ted Taylor dan Freeman Dyson, dan berakhir pada tahun 1963 setelah ditandatanganinya Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty yang melarang ujicoba nuklir di luar angkasa.
Pendukung proyek ini meyakini bahwa Orion cocok untuk penjelajahan antarbintang karena selain efisien bahan bakar, dorongan yang dihasilkan juga besar. Namun, permasalahan besar dalam proyek ini adalah limbah nuklir yang dihasilkan.[1]
