Pulau Heap


Pulau Heap (65°50′S 65°43′W / 65.833°S 65.717°W / -65.833; -65.717) adalah pulau yang terletak di lepas pesisir tenggara Pulau Renaud di Kepulauan Biscoe, Pesisir Graham, Antarktika, antara Tanjung Jurva dan Pulau Bates. Nama pulau ini diberikan oleh UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) pada tahun 1985 sebagai penghormatan untuk John A. Heap, pakar es laut Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), 1955–62, yang bekerja di Antarktika bersama FIDS, 1955–56, lalu Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition, 1956–57, dan United States Antarctic Research Program, 1962–63. Ia kemudian diangkat menjadi kepala Polar Regions Section di Foreign and Commonwealth Office dan anggota UK-APC pada tahun 1976.[1]
