Realisme Kristen

Realisme Kristen adalah sudut pandang filosofis yang dikembangkan oleh teolog dan intelektual publik Reinhold Niebuhr pada akhir 1940-an dan awal 1950-an. Niebuhr berpendapat bahwa Kerajaan Tuhan tidak akan bisa diwujudkan di Bumi karena masyarakat punya sifat-sifat buruk. Karena ada ketidakadilan di Bumi, seseorang harus mendirikan kerajaan surga yang ideal di Bumi. Niebuhr berpendapat bahwa kesempurnaan manusia hanyalah ilusi dan menyoroti dosa-dosa manusia ketika dunia mengalami peristiwa mengerikan seperti Perang Dunia II, masa pemerintahan Adolf Hitler dan Joseph Stalin, dan Holocaust. Gerakan ini merupakan tanggapan terhadap gerakan Injil Sosial. Tokoh-tokoh politik ternama yang dipengaruhi oleh realisme Kristen adalah Martin Luther King Jr., Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, Madeleine Albright, dan John McCain.[1]
