Richard Spruce (10 September 1817 – 28 Desember 1893) adalah seorang botanis Inggris. Sebagai salah satu penjelajah botani besar pada era Viktoria, Spruce menjalani 15 tahun menjelajahi Amazon dari Andes sampai mulut sungainya, dan merupakan salah satu orang Eropa pertama yang mengunjungi beberapa tempat tersebut di mana ia mengumpulkan spesimen-spesimen.[1]

Tumbuhan-tumbuhan dan objek-objek yang dikumpulkan oleh Spruce (sebagian besar di Brasil) dari 1849 sampai 1864 merupakan sumber daya etnologi, sejarah dan botani berpengaruh, dan disimpan di Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London, di Trinity College Dublin, dan di Universitas Manchester.[2]
