SCALPEL

SCALPEL (Small Contained-Area Laser Precision Energetic Load) adalah bom udara berpemandu laser yang diproduksi oleh Lockheed Martin. Senjata ini dikembangkan dari Enhanced Laser Guided Training Round (E-LGTR) yang merupakan versi pelatihan dari seri bom Paveway II.[1][2][3]

Alasan di balik sistem ini adalah untuk menyediakan senjata ringan dengan kerusakan tambahan yang rendah yang dapat memanfaatkan infrastruktur dan integrasi platform yang sudah ada untuk sistem E-LGTR. Pada 14 Maret 2010, Angkatan Laut AS mengumumkan niatnya untuk membeli Scalpel. Angkatan Laut menyelesaikan beberapa pekerjaan integrasi pada tahun 2011 dan senjata tersebut masih didanai sendiri hingga tahun 2016, tetapi Scalpel dapat siap beroperasi dalam "satu atau dua tahun" tergantung jika pelanggan pertama berkomitmen untuk memberikan pendanaan tambahan dan dukungan di lapangan uji. Versi Scalpel Plus memiliki sistem panduan SAL/GPS mode ganda.
