Salisin adalah β-glukosa alkoholik. Salisin diproduksi di (dan dinamai berdasarkan) kulit pohon dedalu (Salix). Ini adalah prekursor biosintetik untuk salisilaldehida.[4]

Salisin terhidrolisis menjadi β-d-glukosa dan alkohol salisil (saligenin). Alkohol salisil dapat dioksidasi menjadi salisilaldehida dan salisilat, baik secara biologis maupun industri.
