Sekretase adalah enzim dari golongan protease, yang berfungsi untuk mengiris protein prekursor amiloid menjadi 3 fragmen, selain fungsi-fungsi yang lain.

Sekretase-beta

  • Sekretase-beta1 (bahasa Inggris: beta-site APP-cleaving enzyme 1, ASP2; memapsin2; BACE; HSPC104; FLJ90568; KIAA1149; BACE1) merupakan enzim dari keluarga peptidase A1 dan protease aspartat berbentuk glikoprotein membran integral tipe 1.[1]
  • Sekretase-beta2 (bahasa Inggris: beta-site APP-cleaving enzyme 2, ASP1; BAE2; DRAP; AEPLC; ALP56; ASP21; CDA13; CEAP1; BACE2) mempunyai kelas yang sama dengan sekretase-beta1, tetapi memiliki berkas genetik pada kromosom 21 dan sering merupakan komplikasi dari sindrom Down.[2]
