Sel plasma

Sel plasma (bahasa Inggris: plasmocyte, plasma B cell, effector B cell) adalah plasmablas yang teraktivasi. Plasmablas merupakan sel B hasil pembibitan pusat germinal (germinal centers) pada sistem limfatik sehingga mempunyai kemampuan untuk memproduksi antibodi.

Plasmablas yang bermukim pada area folikel limfatik sekunder seperti ''Peyer patch'' dan nodus limfa mesenterik, kemudian bermigrasi ke dalam sirkulasi darah, masuk ke dalam ''lamina propia'' dari saluran pencernaan dan lapisan epitelial lainnya. Sedangkan yang bermukim pada area sekunder nodus limfa dan folikel limpa akan bermigrasi menuju sumsum tulang.[1]

Sepanjang migrasi, plasmablas akan teraktivasi menjadi sel plasma yang dapat bertahan hidup selama beberapa bulan hingga beberapa tahun dan memproduksi antibodi sepanjang usianya.
