Serie A 2000–01 (dikenal juga sebagai Serie A TIM karena alasan sponsor) merupakan musim ke-99 kasta tertinggi sepak bola Italia. Diikuti oleh 18 tim untuk kali ke-13 sejak musim kompetisi 1988–89.
AS Roma berhasil meraih gelar juara Serie A sejak terakhir merebutnya pada musim kompetisi 1982–83, sekaligus merupakan gelar ketiga dalam sejarah klub ibukota ini. Bersama Juventus yang berada di posisi kedua, keduanya secara otomatis lolos ke babak utama Liga Champions 2001–02 . Juara musim sebelumnya, Lazio, bersama Parma masing-masing berada di posisi ketiga dan keempat dan berhak mengikuti putaran ketiga Liga Champions. Inter Milan dan AC Milan berada di posisi kelima dan keenam klasemen akhir dan berhak mengikuti kompetisi Piala UEFA 2001-02 bersama juara Coppa Italia, Fiorentina. Sedangkan Brescia berhak mengikuti Piala Intertoto 2001.
Degradasi secara otomatis ke Serie B harus diterima oleh Vicenza, Napoli dan Bari. Sementara,Reggina dan Hellas Verona memiliki nilai sama dan harus bertanding untuk menentukan satu lagi klub yang harus degradasi. Verona akhirnya bertahan di Serie A setelah menang melalui gol tandang melawan Reggina.
Perubahan Regulasi
Di pertengahan musim, Serie A menghapuskan regulasi yang membatasi masing-masing klub hanya boleh memiliki lima pemain non Uni Eropa dan hanya boleh memainkan tiga dari lima pemain tersebut dalam setiap pertandingan.[1][2]
