Skala pentatonik

Skala pentatonik atau tangga nada pentatonik adalah suatu skala dalam muzik dengan lima not per oktaf. Skala pentatonik biasanya digunakan sebagai dasar dalam memainkan jenis muzik blues . Ada dua skala pentatonik yang paling sering digunakan iaitu skala pentatonik "Major dan skala pentatonik "Minor" . Pola interval pada skala pentatonik "Major" adalah M2-M2-m3-M2-m3, sementara pada skala pentatonik "Minor" adalah m3-M2-M2-m3-M2.

Skala pentatonik ditemukan di seluruh dunia: dalam tuning krar di Ethiopia dan gamelan di Indonesia, juga pada melodi dari lagu spiritual Afrika-Amerika dan komponis Claude-Achille Debussy. Tangga nada pentatonik pada umumnya digunakan pada musik tradisional di Indonesia misalnya pada musik gamelan.
