Tecoma adalah genus yang terdiri dari tujuh spesies semak atau pohon kecil dalam famili Bignoniaceae, yang dikenal sebagai famili anggrek terompet.[2] Mereka sebagaili Amerika, tersebar dari Amerika Serikat Selatan hingga Amerika Tengah dan Kepulauan Antilles, kemudian ke selatan melalui Amerika Selatan Andes hingga Argentina utara. Meskipun pohon Tecoma tidak sebagaili Malaysia, mereka telah beradaptsebagaii dengan sangat baik dengan iklim sebagaiia Tenggara, terutama di Malaysia. Seiring waktu, mereka telah menjadi pemdanangan musiman yang familiar dan ikonik di banyak kota dan kota di Malaysia. Karena bunga pink yang menakjubkan yang mirip dengan bunga sakura, mereka secara lokal dikenal sebagai Sakura Malaysia. Nama genus ini bersebagaial dari bahasa Nahuatl tecomaxochitl, yang digunakan oleh penduduk sebagaili Meksiko untuk tanaman dengan bunga berbentuk tabung.[3]
