Telerig

Telerig (wafat 777 di Konstantinopel), juga Teleric atau Tseric, adalah seorang Khan Bulgaria dari 768 atau 772 hingga 777.

Biografi

Khan Bulgaria sebelumnya, Pagan, dibunuh pada 768. Meskipun menurut sumber Bizantin Telerig dianggap sebagai penerus langsung yang terakhir, akan tetapi namanya disebutkan oleh beberapa sumber yang sama dari 774. Sejarawan Christian Settipani menganggapnya sebagai putra Tervel dan istrinya, diduga bernama Anastasia.

Dikalahkan oleh kaisar Bizantium Konstantinus V, Telerig melarikan diri pada 777, ke wilayah Bulgaria untuk berlindung di istana kaisar Bizantium baru, Leo IV. Ia masuk Kristen, mengambil nama Yunani Theofilaktos dan menikahi sepupu Permaisuri Irene. Christian Settipani menganggap mereka adalah orang tua Kardam.
