Tesis Singer–Prebisch

Tesis Singer–Prebisch (juga disebut Tesis Prebisch–Singer, atau hipotesis Prebisch–Singer) menyatakan bahwa nilai tukar dagang (term of trade) antara produk primer dan barang manufaktur akan merosot seiring berjalannya waktu. Pada tahun 1950, ekonom Raúl Prebisch dan Hans Singer secara independen mengembangkan tesis bahwa negara yang mengekspor komoditas primer (negara berkembang) akan mengimpor lebih sedikit barang manufaktur relatif kepada jumlah ekspor.

Namun, selama ledakan komoditas tahun 2000an, nilai tukar dagang negara-negara berkembang meningkat sementara nilai tukar Asia Timur (yang ekspornya banyak berupa barang manufaktur) merosot.[1]
