The Lucky Dog adalah film pertama yang dibintangi bersama oleh Stan Laurel dan Oliver Hardy yang kemudian menjadi duo komedi terkenal Laurel dan Hardy, dan merupakan pertama kalinya mereka berkarya bersama.[1] Meskipun mereka tampil dalam adegan-adegan bersamaan, mereka berperan secara independen satu sama lain dan tidak sebagai tim komedi yang mereka lakukan pada masa berikutnya. Film tersebut dibuat dalam bentuk dua rol,[2] tetapi beberapa versi berakhir rancu setelah rol pertama di mana Stan dirampok oleh Ollie.[3]
