The Verve adalah grup musik rock Inggris yang dibentuk di Wigan pada tahun 1990 oleh vokalis Richard Ashcroft, gitaris Nick McCabe, pemain bass Simon Jones dan drummer Peter Salisbury. Gitaris dan pemain keyboard Simon Tong kemudian menjadi anggota dalam reuni pertama mereka saja.

Dimulai dengan suara psychedelic dengan debut LP mereka A Storm in Heaven, pada pertengahan 1990-an band ini telah merilis beberapa EP dan tiga album. Mereka juga mengalami perubahan nama dan line-up, putus, masalah kesehatan, penyalahgunaan narkoba dan berbagai tuntutan hukum. Terobosan komersial band ini adalah album 1997 Urban Hymns, salah satu album terlaris dalam sejarah UK Chart. Album ini menampilkan single hit "Bitter Sweet Symphony", "The Drugs Don't Work", "Sonnet" dan "Lucky Man". Pada tahun 1998, band ini memenangkan dua Brit Awards, memenangkan Best British Group, muncul di sampul majalah Rolling Stone pada bulan Maret, dan pada bulan Februari 1999, "Bitter Sweet Symphony" dinominasikan untuk Grammy Award untuk Best Rock Song.[4][5][6]
