Transmisi data atau komunikasi digital adalah transfer data (bitstream digital atau sinyal analog digital)[1] melalui saluran komunikasi titik ke titik atau titik ke banyak-titik. Contoh saluran tersebut antara lain kabel tembaga, serat optik, saluran komunikasi nirkabel, media penyimpanan dan bus komputer. Data diwakilkan dengan sinyal elektromagnetik seperti tegangan listrik, gelombang radio, gelombang mikro, atau sinyal inframerah.
