Tsunami Racer


Tsunami adalah pesawat balap yang dibangun untuk tujuan eksperimental. Setelah 6 tahun yang panjang membangun, pesawat pertama diterbangkan 17 Agustus 1986 oleh pilot uji coba Steve Hinton, Tsunami dirancang khusus untuk memecahkan kecepatan rekor dunia 3 km untuk pesawat baling-baling didorong oleh pilot swasta dan bersaing di kelas terbatas di Reno Air Races.

Pesawat ini dirancang oleh Bruce Boland seorang insinyur kedirgantaraan dipekerjakan oleh Lockheed Martin, John R. Sandberg pemilik dari JRS Enterprises Inc, yang membangun kembali Allison, Rolls Royce, mesin pesawat Merlin bersama dengan Lockheed insinyur Pete Law dan pembangun Ray Poe. Didukung oleh mesin Rolls-Royce Merlin yang dirancang dan dibangun oleh John R. Sandberg dan tim JRS Enterprise Inc, Tsunami melebihi 500 mph.
