Umbut

Umbut pohon palem (dari perkebunan Puna Gardens, Pulau Besar Hawaiʻi)

Umbut adalah bagian dalam atau ujung batang tumbuhan yang masih muda, lunak, dan umumnya dapat dikonsumsi.[1][2] Bagian ini biasanya ditemukan pada beberapa jenis tumbuhan, terutama dari keluarga palem-paleman (Arecaceae) seperti kelapa (Cocos nucifera), aren (Arenga pinnata), sagu (Metroxylon sagu), nibung (Oncosperma tigillarium syn. O. filamentosum)[3] dan rotan (Calamus spp.).[3] Selain itu, beberapa spesies bambu (Bambusoideae) juga memiliki umbut yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pangan.
