Unit Inovasi Pertahanan


Unit Inovasi Pertahanan (UIP) atau Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) adalah organisasi di dalam Departemen Pertahanan (DoD) Amerika Serikat yang didirikan dengan tujuan untuk membantu percepatan proses inovasi di dalam tubuh militer AS melalui perkembangan teknologi komersial terbarukan. Dibentuk pada tahun 2015, organisasi ini juga disebut sebagai "Eksperimen Inovasi oleh Pentagon".[1] UIP dikelola secara bersama-sama oleh anggota sipil dan personel militer aktif dan tenaga militer cadangan (reserve). Organisasi ini berkantor pusat di Mountain View, California - Silicon Valley - dengan kantor di Boston, Austin dan Pentagon.

Misi

UIP memiliki beberapa tujuan:

  • Mempercepat adopsi teknologi komersial terbarukan untuk kebutuhan Kementerian Pertahanan Amerika Serikat,
  • Melakukan transformasi kapasitas dan kapabilitas Militer Amerika Serikat,
  • Memperkuat basis inovasi keamanan nasional Amerika Serikat.
