Welrod

Welrod adalah pistol Inggris dengan aksi baut, magasin, dan peredam terintegrasi yang dirancang untuk operasi rahasia selama Perang Dunia Kedua oleh Mayor Hugh Reeves di Biro Penelitian Antar-Layanan (kemudian Stasiun IX).

Welrod Mk IIA

Station IX bermarkas di Welwyn, dan memberi Welrod nama yang tidak biasa. Nama ini berasal dari "Wel" dari "Welwyn" (awalan yang digunakan oleh peralatan rahasia yang dirancang oleh Station IX) dan "rod", bahasa gaul geng untuk senjata, sebagai cara untuk mengaburkan tujuannya.[1][2][3][4][5]

Welrod dirancang untuk digunakan oleh pasukan tidak teratur dan kelompok perlawanan, dan merupakan senjata yang sangat senyap karena peredam yang terintegrasi. Sekitar 2.800 senjata dibuat pada masa perang dan mungkin 14.000 secara total jika contoh-contoh pasca-perang disertakan.
