Donald Sutherland (født 17. juli 1935, død 20. juni 2024[4]) var en canadisk skuespiller. Han var far til skuespiller Kiefer Sutherland.

Biografi

Donald Sutherland blev født i 1935 i den canadiske by Saint John beliggende i provinsen New Brunswick. Som ung rejste Sutherland i 1956 til London for at tage en skuespilleruddannelse ved London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Hans filmdebut var i den italienske skrækfilm Il Castello dei Morti Vivi fra 1964. Donald Sutherland var i sine senere år blandt andet kendt for sin rolle som Coriolanus Snow i Hunger Games.

Under Vietnamkrigen var han stærkt politisk engageret; som nær ven til Jane Fonda var han en af de ledende kræfter indenfor hendes antikrigsbevægelse.

Donald Sutherland døde i en alder af 88 år 20. juni 2024.[4]
