Rotunde

En rotunde-kirke i Thessaloniki, Grækenland.

En rotunde er en cylindrisk bygning ofte med en kuppel. Eksempler på rotunder er rundkirkerne og Pantheon i Rom. Københavns Politigård, opført af Københavns Kommune i årene 1919 - 1924, efter tegning af bl.a professor Hack Kampmann og Aage Rafn, indeholder to rotunder. De bruges som trapper mellem etagerne.

Ordet rotunde kan også være en sal eller et rum, der er cirkelformet. Men også en åben plads,[1] som fx en cirkulær plads omkranset af træer, en krins, som på Kongens Nytorv.[2]
