Natalia Mogollon (born January 10, 1988), better known online as Alinity, is a Colombian-Canadian online streamer, YouTuber, and internet personality. She is recognized for her livestreams on Twitch, where she has primarily created gaming content featuring titles such as World of Warcraft and Apex Legends, along with personality-driven broadcasts and conversations with viewers.[1]
Mogollon was born in Cali, Colombia, and later relocated to Canada. She studied nursing at the University of Saskatchewan and worked in healthcare before becoming a full-time content creator.[1]
Early life and education
Natalia Mogollon was born on January 10, 1988, in Cali, Colombia.[1] In 2010, she moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, to attend the University of Saskatchewan, where she studied nursing.[1]
While studying and working in healthcare, Mogollon became involved in online gaming communities, particularly around World of Warcraft. Her interest in gaming eventually led her to begin creating livestream content.[1]
Streaming career
Beginnings on Twitch
Mogollon launched her Twitch channel under the username Alinity in December 2012 while attending university.[1] Her early streams focused mainly on World of Warcraft, which became a major part of her early online identity.[2]
By 2014, Mogollon had transitioned to streaming full time. Through consistent broadcasts, gaming content, and interaction with her audience, her channel gradually expanded.[3]
Rise to prominence
During the late 2010s, Alinity became a widely recognized figure on Twitch. While gaming remained central to her content, her streams also expanded to include discussions, viewer interaction, and entertainment-focused broadcasts.[4]
In 2019, her Twitch channel reached more than one million followers, placing her among the platform's more prominent female streamers at the time.[5]
Content and platforms
Alinity's Twitch channel features livestreams of various video games, including World of Warcraft and Apex Legends.[2][6]
In addition to gameplay, her broadcasts often include conversations with viewers and other personality-focused content. She also maintains a YouTube channel where she uploads clips and highlights from her livestreams.[7]
Controversies
PewDiePie copyright dispute
In 2018, Alinity became involved in an online dispute with YouTuber PewDiePie after clips from one of her livestreams appeared in one of his videos. A copyright claim was filed through a third-party copyright management service, which led to discussion about copyright practices and enforcement on online platforms.[8]
Mogollon later stated that she did not personally file the claim and that it was eventually withdrawn.[9]
Animal welfare controversy
In July 2019, clips from Alinity's streams involving her pets circulated online and received criticism from viewers who raised concerns about animal treatment.[10]
The Saskatoon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigated the complaints and later determined that there was insufficient evidence of criminal animal abuse. No charges were filed.[11]
Mogollon apologized for her actions and said she would be more careful in how she interacted with her pets in the future.[12]
Twitch moderation issues
Alinity has been involved in several discussions surrounding Twitch's moderation policies and enforcement of platform rules. These incidents contributed to broader conversations about how streaming platforms handle popular creators and community guidelines.[4][13]
Personal life
Mogollon has spoken publicly about her career change from working in nursing to becoming a full-time online content creator.[1]
