Arrondissement of Rambouillet
The arrondissement of Rambouillet is an arrondissement of France in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region. It has 83 communes.[2] Its population is 230,545 (2021), and its area is 987.3 km2 (381.2 sq mi).[3] CompositionThe communes of the arrondissement of Rambouillet, and their INSEE codes, are:[2]
HistoryThe arrondissement of Rambouillet was created in 1812 as part of the department Seine-et-Oise.[4] In 1968 it became part of the new department Yvelines.[5] At the January 2017 reorganisation of the arrondissements of Seine-et-Marne, it received one commune from the arrondissement of Mantes-la-Jolie and one commune from the arrondissement of Versailles.[6] As a result of the reorganisation of the cantons of France which came into effect in 2015, the borders of the cantons are no longer related to the borders of the arrondissements.
