26th Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (Pakistan)
Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik is a three-star general in the Pakistan Army and is the incoming Director-General of the ISI . General Malik is expected to take charge as DG-ISI on 30 September 2024 succeeding Nadeem Anjum .[ 1] [ 2]
Education
Malik graduated from Fort Leavenworth in the United States and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom.[ 3]
Military career
Malik served as the Chief Instructor at the National Defence University in Islamabad and as an instructor at the Pakistan Command and Staff College in Quetta.[ 3]
Throughout his military career, he has been part of the Baloch Regiment and has commanded an infantry brigade in Waziristan.[ 3]
In October 2021, during his tenure as a Major General, Malik was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General and took on the role of Adjutant General (AG) at GHQ, Rawalpindi .[ 4]
In his role as Adjutant-General of the Pakistan Army , Lieutenant General Malik initiated a court of enquiry and oversaw the court martial proceedings of former Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence , retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed .[ 5] [ 6] [ 7]
On 23 September 2024, it was reported that he will succeed Nadeem Anjum as Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence and will take charge on 30 September 2024.[ 3] [ 8]
