Atmedia Czech is a Czech media company that commercially represents approximately 30 thematic TV stations. Most of the company's portfolio consists of localized television channels of multinational television groups that needed a partner who would help with sale of advertising space and with orientation on the Czech TV market.[1] It was founded in 2008 and currently is fourth largest television group.[2][3] Cyprus companies VM Media Investment and VME Virtual Media & Entertainment Limited are owners of Atmedia.[4]
History
Atmedia Czech started in September 2008.[5][6] It was originally part of Polish Atmedia Group and was owned by Polish company Atmedia.[7] In 2009 Atmedia represented 12 channels and became part of official measures of television ratings. Atmedia had 0.76% share. It eventually grew to approximately 30 channels and 5.8% share by 2023.[1] In 2015 Petr Majerik left the position of company's director was replaced by Michaela Suráková.[8][9] In 2017 Atmedia was bought by Cypriot company VM Media Investment.[10] Int 2018 Cartoon Network became part of Atmedia.[11] In 2019 Atmedia acquired right to sell advertisement on Czech AMC.[12] Atmedia started cooperation with M7 Group in 2021.[13]
