Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir (Urdu: چوہدری محمد برجیس طاہر; born 20 April 1948) is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till August 2023. Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly between 1990 and May 2018.
After winning National Assembly seat in 2013 Pakistani general election. he was made Minister of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas. In February 2015, he was appointed Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan as Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan.[6] He had ceased to hold ministerial office in July 2017 when the federal cabinet was disbanded following the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after Panama Papers case decision.[7]
Following the election of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as Prime Minister of Pakistan in August 2017, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Abbasi.[8][9] He was appointed as the Federal Minister of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan.[10][11] Upon the dissolution of the National Assembly on the expiration of its term on 31 May 2018, Tahir ceased to hold the office as Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan.[12]
