CourseCareers is a digital education platform that provides instruction in skills such as in technology, business, construction and supply chain.[1]

History

CourseCareers was founded by Troy Buckholdt in 2019. [2][3][4][5]Prior to founding CourseCareers, Buckholdt had left school at the age of 16 and pursued a career in B2B sales after hitchhiking from Atlanta to San Francisco.[6][2]He published the book The Lean Career, which discussed the relationship between debt, higher education, and skill-based education, in 2019, and founded CourseCareers in the same year.[6]

CourseCareers later introduced the “Career Launchpad,” a job-search support module that provided guidance on outreach, applications, and interview preparation.[4][7][8]

In 2023, CourseCareers drew media attention after announcing a $10,000 signing bonus program for college students who dropped out and enrolled with the platform.[5]The initiative was presented as part of the company’s criticism of rising student debt and advocacy for skills-based education alternatives.[3][4][5]
