Daayra (transl. Circle) is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language thriller film directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Vineet Jain under the banner of Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios. It is written by Meghna Gulzar alongside co-written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani.[1] It stars Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles.[2][3]

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on 18 September 2026.[4]

Cast

Production

The film was announced by Kareena Kapoor in April 2025.[5] Meghna Gulzar revealed that there will be no song in the film citing that the script doesn't have scope for musical sequences.[6] Her father Gulzar also confirmed it citing "Meghna thought adding songs would break up the story's flow, so she decided to stick with the tone of the story."[7]

Casting

Initially Ayushmann Khurrana[8] and then Sidharth Malhotra was the choice for male lead, but Khurana and Malhotra left the project due to their scheduling conflicts, and Prithviraj Sukumaran was finalised for the role.[9][10] Kareena Kapoor played the female lead.[11] This film is first collaboration of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kareena Kapoor.[12][13]

Filming

Principal photography commenced on 25 September 2025.[14][15] Filming completed on 26 December 2025.[16]

Release

The film is slated for theatrical release on 18 September 2026.[17][18]
