Davide Calabria (Italian pronunciation: [ˈdaːvide kaˈlaːbrja] ; born 6 December 1996) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a right-back and captain for Serie A club AC Milan .
Club career
Calabria received his first call-up to AC Milan's senior team ahead of the away game against Lazio played on 25 January 2015, but remained an unused substitute.[citation needed ] The same year on 30 May, he made his Serie A debut in a 3–1 away victory against Atalanta .[ 3] In the 2019–20 Serie A , Calabria scored his first goal against Roma .[ 4]
With the departure of Alessio Romagnoli at the start of the 2022–23 Serie A , Calabria was promoted to captain of the team.[ 5] On 14 January 2023, he scored his first goal of the season in a 2–2 draw against Lecce .[ 6]
Calabria played in the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana four days later, which ended in a 3–0 defeat against rivals Inter Milan in Riyadh.[ 7] On 29 January, during a 5–2 home loss against Sassuolo , he reached 200 appearances for the Rossoneri in all competitions.[ 8]
On 6 January 2024, Calabria played the final of the 2024 Supercoppa Italiana against rivals Inter Milan in Riyadh . Milan won the final 3-2 against Inter. Calabria won his second Supercoppa Italiana .[ 9]
International career
Calabria represented Italy at various youth levels. On 9 November 2020, Calabria received his first call-up to the senior Italy national team from manager Roberto Mancini for three friendly matches against Estonia , Poland , and Bosnia and Herzegovina .[ 10] He made his debut against Estonia, coming on as a substitute in a 4–0 friendly victory.[ 11]

Calabria is capable of playing with either of his feet. He has been noted for his control and tackling abilities.[ 12]
