The 39 Club is an informal list consisting of famous revolutionary figures who died at the age of 39, old enough to reach significant influence, yet young enough to become immortalized as martyrs. It is a cultural conception, created after a number of prominent figures were all assassinated at the age of 39, most notably Malcom X, Martin Luther King Jr. and Che Guevara.[1][2][3]
When retrospectively including the deaths of Emiliano Zapata[4] in 1919, as well as Albert Parsons[5] in 1887, both also at the age of 39, a pattern emerges of high profile revolutionary figures all being killed at the same age.
