AI Revival, formerly known as 4o Revival, is a third-party web interface for interacting with artificial intelligence models. Under its former name, the service attracted media attention in early 2026 as a way for users to continue accessing versions of GPT-4o after OpenAI announced that the model would be retired from ChatGPT.[1][2]

The service later adopted the name AI Revival and expanded its focus beyond GPT-4o.[3]

History

OpenAI announced in January 2026 that GPT-4o would be removed from ChatGPT on February 13, 2026. The planned removal followed an earlier attempt to replace GPT-4o in 2025 that had resulted in user backlash and the model being restored for some subscribers.[1]

Before the February 2026 retirement, TechRadar identified 4o Revival as one option for users who wanted to continue using GPT-4o. The publication reported that the site offered access to dated versions of GPT-4o and stated, after testing the service, that its behavior was similar to using GPT-4o in ChatGPT.[1]

SoftZone also described 4o Revival as a web interface that allowed users to interact with GPT-4o versions through an application programming interface (API). It noted that the service was unofficial and advised users to exercise caution when sending sensitive text or files to third-party services.[2]

The service was subsequently renamed AI Revival. Its own documentation describes AI Revival as a multi-provider service that combines externally hosted AI models with features intended to preserve user context across models.[3]

Features

In its February 2026 review, TechRadar reported that 4o Revival supported multiple dated GPT-4o versions as well as image generation, file uploads, web searches, saved memory, personal instructions and text-to-speech. The publication also reported that the service imposed usage limits on both free and paid accounts.[1]

SoftZone similarly reported that 4o Revival used API-based versions of GPT-4o and operated independently from OpenAI.[2]

According to AI Revival's own documentation, the service later expanded to support models from multiple providers and added tools for maintaining chats, memories, projects and personas when switching between models.[3]
