AJB Studio (also known as AJB Games Studio) is an independent Moroccan video game development studio based in Morocco.[1][2] Founded by Aymane Jbari, a game developer from the city of Tetouan, the studio is primarily known for developing psychological and survival horror games that frequently incorporate elements of Moroccan culture, folklore, and urban legends.[3][4] The studio gained international recognition within the indie gaming scene with the release of the PC horror game Uncursed in 2025.[5]
History
AJB Studio was established by Aymane Jbari, who began developing video games at a young age in his hometown of Tetouan. Jbari founded the studio with the aim of contributing to the growing Moroccan video game industry and bringing local horror narratives to a global audience.[2][4] He has developed over 10 video games, with his early career marked by the release of several independent horror titles on platforms like Itch.io.
One of the studio's early notable projects is The Moroccan Castle, a free PC adventure-horror game set in a real castle in Tetouan built in 1954.[4] The game was designed to combine local history with horror elements and was released in annual chapters.[4] Other early works include the Matha's Dolls series and Bokkie.[6]
In 2023, the studio's contributions to the local game development scene were recognized when they were awarded the "Coup de Coeur" trophy at the LGaming Awards.[7] In July 2025, AJB Studio achieved further major recognition by winning the award for Best Moroccan Game for Martha's Dolls at the 4th edition of the LGaming Awards, held during the Morocco Gaming Expo at the Palais des Sports in Rabat.[8][9]
The studio achieved significant breakthrough success with the development of Uncursed. Released on February 20, 2025, the game is a PC horror title that follows a young man searching for his missing grandmother in a house plagued by paranormal phenomena.[5] Prior to its full launch, the demo version of Uncursed achieved strong viral success, accumulating over 2,400 downloads within five days on Itch.io and over 16,000 downloads on Steam.[5][10] The title was noted for its multi-ending narrative structure and its 100% Moroccan production.[10][11]
