Abdo Chahine (Arabic: عبدو شاهين; born 1 May 1982) is a Lebanese actor known for his work in television, film, and theatre. He is best known for portraying Chahine Sheikh Al-Jabal in the drama series Al Hayba, which gained widespread popularity across the Arab world.
Chahine began his career in theatre before transitioning to television and film roles in Lebanese and regional productions.
Early life and education
Chahine was born in Lebanon on 1 May 1982. He studied acting at the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University, where he specialized in theatre and dramatic performance.[1]
Career
Theatre
Chahine began his acting career in theatre and appeared in several stage productions in Lebanon and Jordan. His performance in the play When Sleep Leaves Your Eyelids earned him the Best Actor award at the Philadelphia Theatre Festival in Jordan.[2]
Television
Chahine later transitioned to television roles in Lebanese and regional productions. He gained wider recognition for his role as Chahine Sheikh Al-Jabal in the drama series Al Hayba, which premiered in 2017 and became one of the most widely viewed Arabic-language television series in the region.[3]
In the series, he portrayed a member of the Sheikh Al-Jabal clan, appearing alongside actors including Taim Hasan,Owais Mkhallalati, and Muna Wassef. Chahine has also appeared in other television productions such as Fakebook and The Visit.[4]
Film
In addition to television, Chahine has appeared in Lebanese cinema. He appeared in the 2015 crime drama film Very Big Shot, directed by Mir-Jean Bou Chaaya.[5]
