The Allen Regime is an intermediate Reynolds Number regime where both viscous and inertial hydrodynamic forces are significant. The Allen regime can be defined as 2 ≤ Re ≤ 500.[1] But definitions vary considerably with some describing the regime beginning as low as 0 and ending as high as 1000.[2]
H.S. Allen identified the Allen regime as a third regime between Stokesian and Newtonian in his 1900 paper titled; "The Motion of a Sphere in a Viscous Fluid."[3]
