AnimaParc Occitanie is an amusement and leisure park located in the Le Burgaud forest in Haute-Garonne, France. The park was founded by Christian Poujade, a farmer, and Pascale Poujade, a nurse, and opened on 27 March 2005.

History

AnimaParc initially operated as a small educational farm with a limited number of recreational activities. Over time, the site expanded to include animal exhibits, amusement rides and a dinosaur-themed area. By 2025, the park comprised three main themed areas.[2]

In 2019, the park underwent renovations aimed at improving visitor facilities. In 2020, five additional attractions were introduced as part of an investment of more than €2 million.[3][2]

The park marked its 20th anniversary in 2025. According to figures reported by the park, it had received more than 2.5 million visitors since its opening.[3][4]

In 2024, the park reported 155,000 visitors, representing an increase of 8.5% compared with 2023. Revenue for the year was reported at €3.7 million. The park employed 76 people, including 16 permanent employees.[3]

2025 expansion

In 2025, AnimaParc invested more than €500,000 in improvements and new attractions. Approximately €100,000 was allocated to improvements to the park's facilities, including an enlarged entrance and shop, a fourth food outlet and a new shaded stage.[3]

A further approximately €400,000 was allocated to two new attractions. Condor Fury is a pendulum-style thrill ride with a maximum height of approximately 10 metres, themed around the American Old West. Jurassik'Vol is a rotating family ride featuring hot-air-balloon-style vehicles and a dinosaur theme.[3]

The park reported 140,000 visitors in 2025.[5]

2026 season

Following the 20th anniversary in 2025, ownership and management of the park changed. The Poujade family, which had previously owned the park, transferred management to a new team. Laurent Muller became director, while Benjamin Pauly took responsibility for marketing and communications.[5]

The new management retained the park's existing family-oriented positioning and announced plans to broaden its appeal to younger adults.[5]

For the 2026 season, several attractions and areas were renovated. These included the Rio Bravo Wild West-themed train, the spinning teacup ride and the dinosaur forest. The dinosaur area received new scenery and effects, including a volcano, rivers and additional animated dinosaurs with sound effects.[5]

AnimaParc covers approximately 17 hectares and is divided into three main areas:[3][6]

  • a five-hectare animal park containing more than 150 domestic animals;
  • a seven-hectare amusement park with 32 land and water attractions; and
  • a five-hectare dinosaur park featuring 30 species.

Accidents

  • In June 2019, a 35-year-old employee was fatally struck by a roller coaster train. The park was temporarily closed following the incident. The attraction involved was subsequently suspended and removed following an investigation.[7]
