Appleton Group (also stylised as ATG) is a Bangladeshi industrial conglomerate founded in 1995, with operations in steel processing and trading, structural steel manufacturing, electric two-wheeler production, flat-steel distribution, and commodity trading.[1] The group's principal subsidiary, Gram Bangla Tubes Limited, is a steel pipe manufacturer that has supplied infrastructure projects including the Padma Bridge and the Dhaka Metro Rail.[2]
History
Appleton Group traces its origins to a steel trading enterprise established in 1995.[1] The group expanded from steel trading into integrated steel pipe manufacturing through its subsidiary Gram Bangla Tubes Limited, which began operations in 2005.[3] Subsequent expansion added structural steel and pre-engineered building manufacturing, electric two-wheeler production, and flat-steel distribution.[1]

Gram Bangla Tubes Limited
Gram Bangla Tubes Limited (GBTL) is the group's principal steel pipe manufacturing subsidiary, established in 2005 and based in Sonargaon, Narayanganj.[3] The company manufactures mild steel electric resistance welded (ERW) pipes, galvanised iron and galvanised plain pipes, longitudinally submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipes, and spiral submerged arc welded (SSAW) pipes.[3] According to the company, raw materials are imported from international suppliers including Nippon Steel, POSCO, Tata Steel, and Rizhao Steel.[3]
GBTL has supplied steel pipes to major infrastructure projects in Bangladesh, including the Padma Bridge and the Dhaka Metro Rail.[2][4]
Appleton Motors
Appleton Motors is the group's automotive subsidiary, focused on establishing an integrated two-wheeler original equipment manufacturer (OEM) chassis manufacturing facility in Bangladesh.[1]
Amin Industries
Amin Industries operates two manufacturing facilities and three steel cutting mills, alongside commodity import and export operations, energy solutions, and warehousing services.[1]
Amin Metals
Amin Metals is a structural steel and pre-engineered building manufacturer, producing H-beams, I-beams, cold-formed profiles, sheet piles, and complete pre-engineered building systems for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure applications.[1]
Appleton Sheets and Plates
Appleton Sheets and Plates is the group's flat-steel distribution division, supplying steel sheets, plates, and sheet piles for construction and industrial fabrication, sourced from international steel mills.[1]
Eve Motors
Eve Motors is the group's electric two-wheeler manufacturing division, producing electric scooters branded as "SmartScooters" for the Bangladesh market.[5] Eve Motors also serves as the local distributor for Naxeon, a Chongqing-based electric two-wheeler brand that entered the Bangladesh market in 2025.[6] Eve Motors launched its first units on the streets of Dhaka in October 2025, with the initial inventory reported as selling out within minutes of release.[7]

Notable projects
Through Gram Bangla Tubes Limited, the group has supplied steel pipes to several major infrastructure projects in Bangladesh:
- Padma Bridge (2022) — steel pipe supply for bridge construction.[4][2]
- Dhaka Metro Rail (2022) — steel pipe supply for the Mass Rapid Transit Line 6.[4]
- Adani Power plant in Bangladesh (2021) — steel supply for the cross-border thermal power project.[4]
The group has also supplied major textile manufacturers and construction firms in Bangladesh since 2005.[4]
Brand and marketing
In late 2024, Gram Bangla Tubes Limited announced Bangladeshi actor Mosharraf Karim as its brand ambassador. The associated television commercial campaign was covered by Channel 24 and Deepto News.[8][9]
