Battlefield RedSec[c] is a 2025 free-to-play online-only first-person shooter video game developed by Battlefield Studios[a] and published by Electronic Arts. The game was made available for free to everyone, without the requirement of owning Battlefield 6. It was released on October 28, 2025, following the release of Season 1.

Gameplay

RedSec marks its first, standalone free-to-play installment in the Battlefield franchise since Battlefield Heroes (2009) and Battlefield Play4Free (2011), following the unsuccessful attempts of Battlefield V (2018) and Battlefield 2042 (2021) with their modes; Firestorm and Hazard Zone. RedSec takes place in the fictional Fort Lyndon, located in Los Angeles, California.

The game features a new ring formation system in RedSec. Unlike "Firestorm", where players lose health for stepping outside the ring, any player who crosses the boundary will be instantly eliminated. Two modes are available in RedSec's "Battle Royale" mode; Quads and Duos, with Solos later being added in Season 3 where it is being rotated weekly.

RedSec also introduces the new "Gauntlet" mode, where eight squads, each consisting of four players, compete for survival in various randomly chosen modes, including "Vendetta", "Wreckage", and "Gridlock". At the conclusion of each round, two squads are eliminated until only two squads are left for the ultimate showdown. In the event that a teammate disconnects, high-performing players may be reassigned to a new squad during the "Reassignment" phase, ensuring that all teams retain the four-player limit.
